“I have treated the EU with nothing but respect. UK expect the same”

Prime Minister Theresa May gave an update on the Brexit negotiations today around 2 pm at Downing Street, 21 September 2018.

Mrs May was speaking on Brexit deal and used a surprise statement that UK will continue prepossession for “no-deal”.

In delivering her message to the EU Theresa May said: ” I have treated the EU with nothing but respect the UK expects the same”.

Mrs May goes on to say: “The parliament has already unanimously – rejected the idea of a basic free trade agreement for Great Britain. Because Northern Ireland would effectively remain in the Customs Union and parts of the Single Market, permanently separated economically from the rest of the UK by a border down the Irish Sea.”

It is something I will never agree to –  indeed.

Scotland first minister Nicola Sturgeon commented on Prime Minister statement: “Clearly, the the Prime Minister has not been listening – Chequers is a dead duck but if her tactic now is to try and double down on those proposals and then seek to blame the EU for a no-deal outcome, then she will do huge damage to all of those she is suppose to serve.

25p more for your burger

Since April of this year, there has been a ban on the sale of single-use products made of plastic, such as straws. Following the example of Scotland.

In total, it is estimated that there are 150 million tons of plastic in the oceans, causing 100,000 deaths of marine mammals. So, its goal is to reduce garbage in the sea.

At the rate at which this material is produced, experts predict that by 2050 there will be more plastics in the sea than marine life. Apparently we are on track to cause our own catastrophe. According to a study published in 2010 by the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis of the USA and the University of Georgia in Greece, it is estimated that around 10 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans every year.

For this, the Government will allocate 61.4 million pounds.

After several months, chains like Waitrose, will remove all disposable coffee cups from their stores for this fall. His argument for wanting to eliminate these is that they can not be recycled by normal systems, since they are made of cardboard with a tightly bonded polyethylene lining, which is difficult to remove.

It has been proven that coffee chains such as Starbucks, Pret, Costa … recycle less than one glass out of every 400 used, which is a problem, since around seven million cups of cardboard coffee are used every day in the United Kingdom.
However, Starbucks offers its customers a 25 pence discount if they bring their own glasses, although not many take advantage of this offer.

Since September plastic straws to McDonalds, since according to BBC, the chain uses an average of 1.8 m each day in its locals in the United Kingdom that can not be recycled and of which, most will end up in our seas.

At the end of March, a new recycling was announced, which consisted of a surcharge of 20p for each bottle and can purchased, although the amount would be reimbursed once the container is returned.

According to a survey, more than half of Londoners would like to replace plastic bottles with reusable containers.

Chris Snowdon of the Institute of Economic Affairs last night stormed: “If the government wants to encourage economic growth it should be taxed, not discriminating against people on the basis of what they eat and drink.”

Theresa May last month revealed plans to the plastic bag charge to 10p and extend it to every shop.

Productive negotiation has positively ended Prison Officers Strike

Prison Officers in England and Wales engaged in strikes that took place around 7 am today.  5000 officers were believed to have been a part of the strike.

Following a successful mediation with Minister Rowery Stewart and obligation to instruct the Employer to come into an agreement with the Prison Officers Association |(POA) to address their plight. The Union has instructed their members to return to their duty.

They have for now returned to work as they await for the promises to be fulfilled.

“The unprecedented levels of violence, and failure of this government and employer to provide safe prisons has been headline news for some considerable time,” a POA spokesman said.

An indication to how Officers felt unsafe in their working environment and the delays in coming to a solution to resolve it.

The Prison Officers Association General Secretary initiated the protest to be carried on earlier today unless told otherwise.

The general public have mixed feeling concerning the strike some felt its unsafe for them to strike whilst some felt it was necessary for them to voice out their frustration.

The strike coming to an end is great news and we hope the government ensures such occurrence does not repeat itself by providing them with what is necessary for the Officers to continue their work.

Gas explosion in Massachusetts and one killed

A gas explosion has ignited flames in dozens of homes, one person dead and at least 12 injured in Massachusetts.

One person died and several were injured and scores of Massachusetts residents were forced to evacuate their homes.

Andover Fire Rescue Chief Michael B.Mansfield told:”It looked like Armageddon, it really did. I have been in the fire service for almost 39 years and i have never seen anything like this in my entire career.”

The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency has blamed the blasts on over-pressurised gas lines.

The governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker, said: “This is still very much an active scene. There will be plenty of time later tonight, tomorrow morning and into the next day to do some of the work around determining exactly what happened and why.”

60 to 100 fires were burning across the area and several people were injured, according to the Methuen police chief, Joseph Solomon.

Apple presents its new models

Apple presented its new three models of new generation of iPhone this 12th September at Steve Jobs Theater, located at the heart of Apple Park.

Apple will have three new models: iPhone, Xs, Xs max and Xr. The three follow the aesthetics of the well-known iPhone X, which as assured by Tim Cook, has become the # 1 smartphone in the world.

At first glance the three devices seem to be the same as the iPhone X, but in internal specifications and in screen size is where the changes come, so let’s analyse each of the models.

Firstly, iPhone Xr, which will be the most economically accessible, will have a 6.1″ LCD screen. Also, only have a simple back cam of 12 MP. The device will have an IP67 certification against water and dust and will have a battery up to an hour and a half longer than the iPhone 8, the price will range from £ 749 which is the most affordable compared to the other two.

Finally, Apple introduced the new iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs max, both will have an OLED Super Retina Display of 5.8 and 6.5 inches. In addition, they ensure that the device will be more reliable thanks to an improvement in the processor which will make it more efficient and twice as fast. Both will maintain a dual 12 MP camera, claiming that they will have a sensor twice as fast as the iPhone X. Moreover, both of them will have an IP68 certification against water. Prices will range from £999 in the case of the Xs and from £1099 in the case of the Xs Max.

With these new models, iPhone leaves behind its classic style that characterised it with the home button and now tries to experience a change of time, leaving their models occupying the maximum possible screen and leaving behind the unlock by footprint increasing much more the FACE ID. However, the big question is, is it worth it to pay so much money for a mobile phone?

iPhone every year takes out new devices and each year more expensive, obviously they have the prestige and the fans. They can increase their prices and they will continue to have thousands of people waiting for the departure date to wait at the door and get their new iPhone as soon as possible. It is already a decision of each person if he wants and can pay what an iPhone is worth or if he prefers to choose another model, but as another year more iPhone will do with the market as we are used to.

Sadiq Khan to be Labour’s candidate for 2020 Mayor

Sadiq Khan will probably become Labour’s 2020 election candidate for London thanks to the backing from the powerful Trade Union GMB that was given by them today on twitter.

The Constituency Labour Parties in London amongst other affiliated organisations and unions have been voting on whether Khan should be automatically reselected or to hold an open selection process. The backing from the GMB should get him passed the 50% threshold though a deadline will be reached on September 30th.

The Mayor had previously backed GMB during March in their ‘making it’ campaign to support investment in the manufacturing sector which according to a GMB analysis employs 110,000 workers in the capital and boosts the economy by £8.5 billion a year.

Warren Kenny, GMB’s regional secretary told the Huffington post “Two years ago Londoners elected Sadiq Khan as London mayor by a thumping margin in the face of a nasty and divisive campaign from the Tories.”

“Since he came to office our mayor has consistently championed people living and working in London. We are proud to be giving GMB’s firm backing to Sadiq Khan to carry on the job of making London a fairer and more equal city.”

Sadiq Khan came into office in 2016 with a strong majority 44.2% and since the recent local elections London has become almost entirely Labour controlled save for a few boroughs like Barnet.
