Leicester City are about to face their toughest mental challenge this weekend as they play their first match since the tragic events last week.
Last week, the whole of the football community across the world mourned the tragic loss of inspiring Leicester City chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha after his Helicopter spiralled out of control moments after taking off following the draw against West Ham. The scenes that followed were horrific and deeply saddening.
They now have to play their first match since that Saturday night as the Carabao Cup match on Tuesday was postponed due to these circumstances. This weekend’s match is against underperforming side Cardiff city.
They have only recorded one win throughout the whole season. Lack of signings towards and already weakened side gives little surprise to the current state of the Welsh outfit.
However, to be fair to them they did put up a fight a couple times but ultimately lacked the finishing quality needed against big sides such as Liverpool and Arsenal.
It’s also important to mention that those matches were also at home in their stadium which is where their match this weekend will also be held. With the support of their home fans as well as having a fair chance against Leicester. The Bluebirds might just be able to record that second win of the season.
Leicester on the other hand have had a fairly good start to the season as they sit comfortably in 12th place of the Premier League. In some of the matches that they’ve lost this season against Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool they’ve put up a strong fight.
In those matches Cardiff have dominated for large periods of time but again lacked that cutting edge to finish off sides.
With all that being said the weekends fixture should be a very interesting one. Both sides on their day can be a test for any team in the League. The big test will be if they can actually finish their chances and put the game to bed.
Players like Maddison, Periera and Etheridge are all players to watch out for in this match after consistently putting up top draw performances for their respected sides and could have a big impact in the match this weekend.
