Get to know a little bit about the five candidates competing for the chance to be a Member of Parliament for the Streatham constituency in the 2019 general election on Thursday, 12th December 2019.

Labour- Bell Ribeiro-Addy
Ribeiro-Addy was both Diane Abbott’s chief of staff & political advisor and worked under her for many years. She highlights tackling youth violence as a priority in Streatham and points to a joined-up public health approach between councils, schools and police as the best way to overcome the issue.
Conservatives- Rory O’Broin
He is currently a councillor for Wandsworth. Cllr O’Broin attends board meetings on behalf on Wandsworth Council as a representative. He is also a corporate lawyer for AIG and specialises in corporate finance and private equity transactions
Liberal Democrats- Helen Thompson
Helen was born in Lambeth and formerly represented the UK overseas and in negotiations with other governments, but is now Head of Humanitarian at a charity. She is campaigning alongside pro-choice residents to defend women from harassment outside Streatham and Brixton health clinics and stood up for EU citizens during the #deniedmyvote scandal this year.
She believes we need to move on to address the real issues people in Streatham care about, including tackling climate change, giving our young people the opportunities they deserve and addressing serious youth violence. Helen currently lives in Brixton Hill
Green Party- Scott Ainslie
Scott Ainslie was born in Edinburgh. He has a degree in economics from Edinburgh Napier University and got a scholarship to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts to pursue acting. His acting roles include The Zombie Diaries, Little Deaths and Local Hero. He moved to Streatham in 1997.
He was elected as a Green Party MEP for London in the 2019 European parliamentary election, becoming the only MEP from London. Ainslie is also a councillor representing St Leonard’s Ward on the Lambeth Council in London since 2014.
