Today at 11.16 am, Boris Johnson has so far sent Twitter wild after posting the fact that he’s tested positive for Coronavirus.
He told his 1.8m Twitter followers, the fact that ‘over the last 24 hours, I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for Coronavirus. I am now self- isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via- video conference as we fight this virus together.’
‘Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSavesLives.’
Mr. Johnson’s last Coronavirus meeting was the PMQ, which took place at the House of Commons on 25th March in the afternoon.
This was the meeting, when Jeremy Corbyn called him and Rishi Sunak out for not sticking to the plan of the Government protection scheme, saying that they ‘unfortunately offered nothing to the 20 million people living in rented homes, including 3 million households with children,’ who he met.
Mr. Corbyn continued saying how those people who are either jobless or working from home are ‘worried sick that they can’t pay their rent if they get ill, lose pay, or feel they need to self isolate.’
They shouldn’t ‘feel forced to work in order to avoid eviction when they know themselves they may be spreading this terrible disease.’
This led Mr. Johnson to respond to him, saying that he and his party, ‘will be bringing forward the legislation (the Coronavirus protection scheme) to protect private renters from eviction, that’s one thing we will do.’
He continued saying that they will also ‘protect other actors (meaning people from all working industries) in the economy.’
Although yesterday at the Coronavirus briefing conference, where Mr. Johnson was absent, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, said that the UK government won’t be given money for the scheme until ‘1st June.’
Today at 12.58pm, Conservative Health secretary, Matt Hancock, told his 156.9k Twitter followers, that he’s also been tested positive for Coronavirus.
The double breaking announcement by two figures in the party, is sending many Twitter users going of the scale.
Mr. Hancock said: ‘Following medical advice, I was advised to test for #Coronavirus.’
‘I’ve tested positive. Thankfully my symptoms are mild and I’m working from home and self-isolating.’
‘Vital we follow the advice to protect our NHS and save lives #StayHomeSavesLives.’
Mr. Hancock was last seen at the Coronavirus briefing conference on Wednesday 25th March.
