The major political parties in the UK have started campaigning for the 2019 general elections as they have started announcing their aims and objectives.

Parties have presented their manifestos for 2019 election, this article shows what various parties have promised the public if they win the election in regards to transport.

The conservatives promised to support cycling commuter routes by creating a new £350 million cycling infrastructure fund with mandatory design standards for new routes.

This will ensure cyclist are safe and more families would be able to go out together.

The party promised to fund city regions in order for them to upgrade their buses, trams and train system to make them as good as London’s, with this idea transportation system in city regions would be more effective wherein they’re provided with  modern buses, modern train systems, smart ticketing and better-integrated services in general.

The conservatives aim to connect major productive cities with the northern power house rail plan which will be built in between Leeds and Manchester wherein later on their focus would be on Liverpool, Tees valley, Hull, Sheffield and Newcastle.

The idea behind this plan is to connect major cities across England, Wales and Scotland. They will begin by creating high speed rail line connecting London and Heathrow to Birmingham.

This plan is set to provide an attractive low carbon alternative to thousands of short flights.

The Labour party has stated that cutting emission would be the matter driving their transport policies wherein they would review public transport expenditure on transport.

This plan is to ensure that it promotes environmental sustainability and contributes to decarbonisation.

The labour party has promised to invest in a modern, integrated, accessible and sustainable transport system wherein it is reliable and affordable to improve the quality of living nationwide.

They will ensure that councils can improve bus services by regulating and taking public ownership of bus networks which will allow the availability of resources to function to its maximum potential. Councils would take control of their buses.

The party plans to provide free bus travel for under 25’s wherein they would increase and expand local services.

They plan on bringing together transport and land use  planning to create towns and cities  that walking and cycling are the best choice is part of agenda for the upcoming election.

The Green party plans on making travel by public transport cheaper than travelling by car, to see to this plan they would reduce the cost of travelling by train and bus.

Coach travel would be encouraged with the help of electric coaches provided across the country.

The green party has promised to revolutionise the transport  system by ending dependence on carbon whereby they will invest in alternatives that works for the climate and betterment of the people.

The party plans on seeing this agenda through by providing more reliable and affordable trains, electric bus, trams and better options for cycling and walking.

The party has promised to spend  £2.5 billion a year on new cycleways and paths, built with sustainable materials like woodchips and sawdust.

The party plans to stop the building of new runways and all increased road capacity which would see to saving of thousands of acres countryside every year protecting people from harm of increased air pollution and traffic danger.

The Liberal democrats have promised to prioritize healthy forms of transportation by encouraging the public to walk and cycle. 

The party promised to accelerate the transition to ultra-low-emission transport through taxation, subsidy and regulation of cars, buses and trains.

The party has promised to invest in public transport I.e. buses, trams and railways with the ulterior motive to allow people travel more easily while reducing their impact on the environment at the same time.

The party has promised to reduce the need for car travel by giving new powers to local authorities and communities to improve transport in their areas, including the ability to introduce smart ticketing like London operates.

The polling stations would be open from 7am on December 12 and closing 10pm on the same day wherein results would be announced in the early hours of December 13.

Neo-Nazi sentenced to life imprisonment

Far-right terrorist Jack Renshaw  sentenced to life imprisonment for plotting to murder MP Rosie Cooper.

Jack Renshaw, 23-year-old brought a  19-inch Gladius knife to kill Rosie Cooper, a member of the parliament, west Lancashire.

Jack Renshaw also admitted making plans to exact revenge on a female police officer Victoria Henderson who was investigating him for child sex offences. The 23-years-old Lancashire local was sentenced life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years to serve at the old Bailey on Friday.

Several supporters of jack shouted ”we are with you, Jack” after the 23-year-old was sentenced.

Jack Renshaw’s plans were thwarted by whistle-blower Robbie Mullen who was at a meeting in a pub when the 23-year -old announced his intentions in July 2017.

Roosie Cooper thanked Robbie Mullen in a statement “I wish to thank Robbie Mullen whose bravery saved my life, the Parliamentary Authorities including the Parliamentary Liaison and Investigation Team, the Police – Lancashire and Merseyside Forces and the North West Counter Terrorism unit for keeping me safe.

“Now the case has ended, I will not be making any further comment. I look forward to focusing solely on my work on behalf of the people of West Lancashire as their MP.”

After the sentencing Rosie Cooper said  “My deepest wish is that this case is the last occasion when any public servant, any politician, has their life threatened for simply doing their job.”

Whatsapp urges users to update app due to security fears.

The billion dollar company has urged 1.5billion users to update the app as an added precaution after discovering ”spyware”, a cyber surveillance software.

This security breach was discovered by Facebook earlier in May wherein the attackers  were able to install surveillance software unto phones by just ringing the targets phone.

Financial times says the surveillance software in question was developed be an Israeli firm known as NSO Group,

The company claimed the security breach has been fixed but they still advise users to update the app just be be on the safer side.

Whatsapp said the spyware was spread by ”advanced cyber actor” who saw the vulnerability in their app.

The billion dollar company advised users in a statement saying “WhatsApp encourages people to upgrade to the latest version of our app, as well as keep their mobile operating system up to date, to protect against potential targeted exploits designed to compromise information stored on mobile devices,”

The  National Cyber Security Centre also backs this up saying “It’s important to apply these updates quickly, to make it as hard as possible for attackers to get in,” they also urged users that it is advisable they turn on their automatic update function and quickly update the app as soon as it becomes available because it contains vital security updates to help protect  laptop, smartphones or tablet.

Man charged with the murder of Bradley Welsh.

A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of 48-year-old Trainspotting actor Bradley Welsh.

On 17th of April Bradley was shot at the doorstep of his home on Chester street, Edinburgh. he was later discovered lying on the staircase and pronounced dead at the scene.

The police have confirmed that a 28-year-old man has been charged with his murder

The suspect in question is also charged with attempted murder of a 48 -year-old man wherein he was left with serious arm and head injuries, he is also charged for serious assault on a 22-year-old man in Pitcairn Grove on 13 March.

The police stated  “Members of the public are thanked for their assistance with both of these investigations.”

He is set to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 14 May.

2018/2019 Premier league review

Who won the premier league, player of the season, golden boot, golden glove, play-maker of the season, young player of the season, everything you need to know;

Liverpool’s attempts to dethrone the defending champions fail as Manchester city defeat Brighton 4-1 away from home to secure the title for the second time in a row.

Manchester city claimed the premier league title with 98 points followed by Liverpool at 97 points (by far the largest points claimed by a premier league runner-up), Tottenham and Chelsea in 3rd and 4th place respectively.

Player of the season:   Virgil van Djik

The dutch defender who was named player of the month last December 2018 claimed the award with 4 goals, 2 assists, 28 tackles won, 199 clearances, 20 clean sheets and 18 blocks. the nominees for this award were; Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling.

Golden boot: Aubameyang, Salah, Mane

The golden boot for this season was shared between 3 players for the first time since 1998/1999, the trio have 22 goals respectively

Golden glove: Allison Becker

The Brazilian kept 21 clean sheets, conceded 22 goals and 76 saves to secure the golden glove wherein this award goes to the premier league goal keeper with the most clean sheet throughout the season. Ederson of  Manchester City and Jordan Pickford of Everton were 2nd & 3rd respectively.

Play-maker of the season :  Eden Hazard

The play-maker award goes to the Premier League player with the most assists. The Belgian secured this award with 16 assists, 16 goals, 98 chances created(+ assists), 1819 passes and 84.3% passing accuracy. Ryan Fraser (14 assists), Christian Eriksen (12 assists) in 2nd and third place respectively.

Young player of the season:  Trent Alexander-Arnold

Only players who were 21 years of age or younger at the beginning of the season are qualified for this category. The 20 years old Liverpool right back provided 12 assists this season the most by a defender in a single season in the competition’s history.

The goal of the season is expected to be announced on 18th May 2019, here is the shortlist; Eden Hazard, Anthony Knockaert, Fabian Schar, Andre Schurrle, Andros Townsend, Son Heung-min, Aaron Ramsey, Daniel Sturridge, Jean Michael Seri and any outstanding for this month.

The manager of the season is also expected to be announced on 14th May 2019, here are the candidates; Nuno Espirito Santo (Wolves), Pep Guardiola (Man City), Jurgen Klopp (LIverpool) and  Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham).

Stockx is a live marketplace for buying and selling limited edition sneakers, watches, handbags, and street wear. They deal in high-end fashion & street-end fashion, they refer to their items as dead-stock because they’re either vintage, sold-out at the original outlets or limited edition items.

Customers in the UK are infuriated over the processing fees as they claim it is ”ridiculous and overpriced” as seen in a tweet.

Compared to other international retail outlets Stockx seems to charge the most per item, majority of international retail outlets like pacsun, Macy’s, and Target charge based on weight.

Teenage boy charged with the murder of a 17 year old Ellie Gould

Ellie Gould was found murdered at her family home near Chippenham on Friday 3 May.

Ellie Gould was a year 12 pupil at Hardenhuish school, she was upright with a promising future she represented her school on a number of occasions at equestrian events.

Her body was discovered at her family home after emergency services were called to a house in Springfield Drive where she was pronounced dead at the scene after several attempts were made by the paramedics to revive her.

A 17 year old boy thought to be know to Ellie Gould has been arrested on suspicion of murdering the 17 years old girl.

The suspect was remanded in custody as of Saturday morning in a  nearby town of Chippenham where police continued to question him.

The police have promised the locals that they would do all in their power to make the environment safe in a statement ”However, I want to reassure everyone that the officers and detectives involved have been working hard to carry out their duties as swiftly as possible to minimise the impact on those living and working here” says Inspector Don Pocock.

The police has urged anyone with information to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting log number 176 on May 3.

 

Two teenagers stabbed in Islington

Two teenagers left in life threatening condition after being attacked in North London, both stabbings are being treated as linked.

On Monday 6th of May, the police were called to a stabbing around 5:30pm on FairBridge Road, N19. A 17 years old teenager was found at the scene suffering from severe stab injuries.

The police described his present condition as ”serious but stable” after receiving medical attention.

Another stabbing was reported 10 minutes after the stabbing of the 17 years old boy on Fairbridge Road. The second victim believed to be 18 years of age was stabbed on Sussex Road, N19. he was also taken to the hospital where he received medical attention and his present condition was being described as ”no longer believed to be life threatening” says the police.

Investigation has been launched as both cases are being treated as linked.

The police also released a statement saying ”There will be an increased police presence in Islington following these stabbings. A Section 60 order has been authorised for the borough of Islington until 07:00AM on Tuesday, 7 May.”

The police has also urged the public to come forward if they have an information that could help the investigation to call 101 quoting CAD 5043/06may, to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Second man charged with the murder of Jaden Moodie

A 21 year old man has be charged with the murder of Jaden Moodie who was stabbed in East London earlier this year.

The 14 year old who was knocked off a moped before being attacked and stabbed  in Walthamstow on January 8th 2019 , he was treated by paramedics but was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Ayoub Majdouline, 18, from Wembly area was previously charged with the murder Jaden.

Yousuf Doubbad, 21, from East London, is also being charged with the same offence and is expected to appear at Thames Magistrate Court later on Friday.

The case is due to be sent to the Old Bailey on Tuesday when the trail is confirmed.

Man suspected of abducting two women identified

The police have identified a man who was suspected of abducting and raping two women as Joseph McCann.

After the abduction of two women in North London, one in Chingford the other in Edgware on April 25th, police release CCTV images of a 33 year old suspect.

He is described to be 5ft 10inches tall with blue eyes, a bald head and light coloured short beard.

He has a slight Irish accent and is know for using fakes names like Joel. He has links to  Watford in Hertfordshire, Aylesbury in Buckingham-shire and Ipswich in Suffolk according to the police. 

The police have urged the public to be very careful that he is dangerous and could be wearing a disguise and using false-names wherein ”he is a risk to the public and we ask people not to approach him, but instead call 999” says Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin.
